The MAMO Celebrates its 10th Anniversary and Unveils an Exhibition by Rigobert Nimi

The MAMO is a Contemporary art centre based at Le Corbusier’s Cité Radieuse in Marseille, founded in 2013 by designer and architect Ora Ito. Nowadays established as an artistic hub of the city, gathering internationally renowned artists, the institution celebrated its 10th anniversary from the rooftop of the building on Thursday 13.

The city’s mayor, Benoît Payan, awarded the artist the city’s medal of honour, emphasising the uniqueness of his work and his openness to the world, qualities that are in line with the spirit of Marseille. The colourful sculptures and machines of the Congolese artist, imported from other parts of the world, will resonate with the building’s concrete ocean liner aesthetic.

Over 150 figures from the art world gathered for a dinner hosted by Gérald Passédat, followed by a concert by Diouck. Among the personalities gathered in this exceptional meeting place were Daniel Buren, Xavier Veilhan, Jean Pigozzi, Guillaume Houzé and Maja Hoffman, to name but a few.
