The Centre Pompidou-Metz Presents “Bonne Chance” by Elmgreen & Dragset and “Worldbuilding. Gaming and Art in the digital age”

The Centre Pompidou-Metz inaugurates “Bonne Chance” by Elmgreen & Dragset, the first exhibition by the artist duo in a French public institution. This carte blanche exhibition brings together original sculptures and installations in a singular setting, thus allowing for new narratives between dream and reality to emerge. Curated by Chiara Parisi, Director of the Centre Pompidou-Metz, “Bonne Chance” occupies the Forum, the roofs of the galleries and the Grand Nef, embracing an unusual format that breaks with conventional display modes. This unorthodox setup translates into a blurring of the boundaries between inside and outside, intimate and public in the digital age. Through this exhibition, the artist duo invites us to take part in an immersive experience that leaves no one indifferent…Simultaneously, the Centre Pompidou-Metz is presenting the exhibition “Worldbuilding. Gaming and Art in the digital age”. Imagined in collaboration with the Julia Stoschek Foundation (Düsseldorf) and curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director of London’s Serpentine Galleries, “Worldbuilding” is an unprecedented cross-generational and international exhibition of such a big scale. Featuring the work of forty artists, it examines how the aesthetics and technology of video games can be appropriated and transformed into a new form of expression. Located in Gallery 3, a space that has been metamorphosed into an arcade for the occasion, the show offers a programme including video games on sofas, augmented reality experiences, immersive multi-sensory environments, short film screenings and encounters with virtual characters. An immersive experience, full of surprises, that promises to deliver a fresh look at the future of art! During the exhibition opening, we ran into Hans Ulrich Obrist, curator of the exhibition “Worlbuilding. Gaming and Art in the digital age”, artists Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset, Xavier Rey, Director of the Musée national d’art moderne – Centre Pompidou, Julia Stoschek and His Excellency Starbaek Christensen, Danish Ambassador to France.
