Perrotin Gallery Marks the Start of the Autumn Season by Inaugurating Four New Exhibitions
On September 2, the Parisian Gallery inaugurated the solo exhibitions of Daniel Arsham, John Henderson, Leslie Hewitt and Emi Kuraya at its exhibition space in Le Marais.
To celebrate 20 years of collaboration between Emmanuel Perrotin and Daniel Arsham, the artist is presenting an unprecedented selection of works that reflect the evolution of his artistic practice over the past two decades. The exhibition features sketches, paintings, life-sized architectural interventions and monumental sculptures inspired by Antiquity, as well as showcasing his brand-new collaboration with Star Wars.
With “Two sculptures, three paintings, and a photograph”, Chicago-based artist John Henderson challenges the notion of contemporary abstraction through six new works, each of them executed in a different medium. Alongside, Leslie Hewitt introduces an installation of recent work, a juxtaposition of disparate images and objects that she masterfully ties into a cohesive whole.
Finally, in the Saint Claude space, visitors will have the opportunity to discover Emi Kuraya’s first solo show, “Walking in the Sky”. Through a brand-new series of paintings and drawings featuring a female character, she plunges viewers into the both real and dreamlike world of a young Japanese city dweller.
To celebrate the opening of the new season, guests gathered in the Gallery’s ballroom where they could enjoy Pierre Sang and Cédric Grolet’s signature Chivas cocktail on the beautiful Augustine Rose’s sofas, before dancing to Andy 4000’s DJ set. We crossed paths with Jérôme Sans, Laurent Le Bon, Marie Maertens, Thomas Mondo, Matthieu Lelièvre and Fleur Pellerin, as well as artists Sophie Calle, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Johan Creten, Xavier Veilhan, Laurent Grasso, Mathilde Denize and Samuel Boutruche.
