Inauguration of Monumenta 2016 w/ Huang Yong Ping

After Anselm Kiefer, Richard Serra, Christian Boltanski, Anish Kapoor, Daniel Buren and Ilya & Emilia Kabakov, it is Huang Yong Ping’s turn to invade the nave of the Grand Palais, under the direction of Jean de Loisy, with a monumental installation imagined for the building. Event!

Until June 18, the representative of the Chinese artistic avant-garde invites us on a trip into the excesses of containers from all over the world, a 250m long snake skeleton and a XXL bicorne, symbol of the bloody Napoleonic victories. Almost 1000 tons of work for this edition more gigantic than all the others put together, which ensure the spectacle to those who will want to stop there. Beyond the artistic and human tour de force, the Franco-Chinese artist – represented by the Kamel Mennour gallery – lays the foundations of a committed reflection on the modern economy, criticizing in volume the globalization and the crushing empires that dominate it.

Those who did not see Yannick Alleno and Huang Yong Ping in full gastronomic performance were not at the Pavillon Ledoyen for the evening given by the gallery owner at the end of the preview. As always with Mennour, good food and profusion dominated the festivities, in an elegant atmosphere that brought together all that Paris had collectors at that moment T. The epicurean moment of art and good taste.
