The Exceptional “Brancusi” Retrospective at the Centre Pompidou

Bequeathed in 1957 by the artist, the Atelier Brancusi is one of the treasures housed in the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Twenty years after the latest retrospective devoted to him in France, this exhibition puts back in the spotlight the inventor of modern sculpture.

Curated by Ariane Coulondre and associate curators Valérie Loth and Julie Jones, this retrospective takes us on an in-depth and intimate journey into the Romanian artist. This immersive exploration of Brancusi’s approach is also possible thanks to exceptional loans from leading international museums and private collections. Over one hundred and twenty sculptures, as well as more than 400 photographs, drawings and films, illustrate Brancusi’s many sources of inspiration, as well as the context in which some of the greatest masterpieces of the 20th century were created.

During the opening evening, held on Mars 26th, we crossed paths with Patti Smith, Laurent Le Bon, Emma Lavigne, Laurent Grasso, India Mahdavi, and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.
