Ellen von Unwerth, Supermodel and Photographer, Takes Over the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme
Blindfolded and whipped, three naked women walk confidently before a tied-up man in the background. This iconic photograph pretty much sums up Ellen von Unwerth’s signature touch, through which female bodies are portrayed both eroticised and empowered. How did this distinct gaze that made her reputation come about you may ask? Before moving behind the camera, Ellen von Unwerth was a model herself. She knows what it’s like to be blinded by the flashbulbs. This first-hand experience is perhaps what gave birth to the iconic 1989 shot of Claudia Schiffer, her hair tousled and her mouth parted. This autumn, the German artist will be taking over the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme, located between the prestigious Place Vendôme and the Opera House. Her images will be exposed in the hotel lobby and the Café Jeanne, where it will also be possible to taste the bespoke cocktail that she has created for the exhibition. A collaboration that reaffirms the hotel’s commitment to fashion and contemporary art.
During the exhibition opening, we met Max Ricker, Rebecca Fourteau, Ahmad Kontar, Alyy Space, Nika’s Demons…
