David di Donatello, Stars Parade at Cinecittà with Elle Italia

Matteo Garrone and Paola Cortellesi emerged as the absolute triumphants of the latest David di Donatello Awards. The former, with the touching ‘Io capitano,’ clinched seven statuettes, while the latter, with the surprising ‘C’è ancora domani,’ secured six awards. Surrounding them, under the strangely leaden sky of Rome, paraded the brightest stars of Italian cinema: from Elio Germano (best supporting actor for ‘Palazzina Laf’) to Paolo Sorrentino, from Emanuela Fanelli (best supporting actress for ‘C’è ancora domani’) to Pierfrancesco Favino, from Marco Bellocchio to Nanni Moretti, passing through Isabella Rossellini, Micaela Ramazzotti, Michele Riondino (best leading actor, again for ‘Palazzina Laf’) and Valerio Mastandrea. So many, all together, could only be encountered on the occasion of such an iconic award (now in its 69th edition) and the now traditional Welcome cocktail that Elle Italia has organized for the third consecutive year in the legendary Teatro 5 of Cinecittà in collaboration with the Italian Academy of Cinema – David di Donatello Awards. An appointment now as traditional as the event itself, capable of bringing together in a single moment the founding themes of the women’s magazine DNA: cinema, fashion, and current affairs. But also beauty, stories, and contemporary values.
