Magliano’s SS24 Show Turns Clothes into Talismans

The Palazzo del Ghiaccio in Milan is transformed into an industrial, under-construction space baptized “Palamagliano” to host Magliano’s Spring-Summer 2024 show. Following his success at the Lvmh Prize, where he was awarded the “Karl Lagerfeld”, Luca Magliano delivers here yet another astonishing fashion statement. The Italian designer has chosen quite a unique format for the show which, while unprecedented for him, aligns perfectly with his expressed desire to “be seen”. The details of the looks resonate with the ambivalent state of the venue – finished yet still in the works – creating a unique aesthetic that subverts expectations to embrace experimentation. Bomber jackets, trousers, overalls and windproof jackets become talismans filled with signification through the accessories that adorn them. For instance, the chains of coins reference the inspirational muse of the season, Alda Merini, who would keep money close to her heart to ward off poverty. The words Magliano srl are also to be found inscribed in t-shirts and bags, thus paying homage to the label and the city of Bologna. Among the numerous guests of the show, we caught a glimpse of Giuseppe Gioffrè, Marco Rambaldi, Giotto Calendoli and Gilda Ambrosio.
