Close Encounters of the Third Kind at Coperni

The past Monday, Studio 217 metamorphosed into a futurist venue, propelling Coperni’s Fashion Show into an epicentre of fashion and technology. Designers Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant delivered quite a thrilling experience, pushing the boundaries of aesthetics and innovation one more season.

The atmosphere became electrifying as soon as the legendary “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” soundtrack began to play. A monumental black pillar, erected like a monolith, lit up to the rhythm of the music, announcing the arrival of the models, or rather Coperni’s cyborg-like creatures. The entrance was worthy of the great sci-fi productions, leaving none of the few hundred spectators indifferent.

Besides the uncanny quality of the presentation, what really stuck with us was the innovative fusion of fashion and state-of-the-art technology. The duo unveiled the “Air Swip”, a revolutionary bad made almost entirely of air. This technical feat was accomplished thanks to a collaboration with researcher Ioannis Michalous and the use of aerogel, an ultra-light solid made up of over 99% air, a material once used by NASA to capture stardust.

In this captivating soundscape, silhouettes marched past each other without ever meeting, heralding a futuristic and aesthetically striking collection. Balancing out deconstruction and fluidity, transparency and opacity, the pieces of Coperni’s Autumn-Winter 24/25 collection revisited the classics of contemporary fashion.

An invitation to picture a future where innovation and style meet to challenge the boundaries of our human imagination…

We had the pleasure of meeting Angèle, Cole Sprouse, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Dadju, Ronisia, Alexandre Mattiussi, Paris Jackson, Pierre de Maere, Mica Arganaraz and many more.
