Andersson Bell, When Romanticism Meets Aviation

Andersson Bell’s Autumn-Winter 2024 collection pays homage to Ki-Ok Kwon, a prominent figure in Korean history, merging her character as South Korea’s first female aviator with the pathos of the Air Force aesthetic. For this show, the brand decided to set up a catwalk that not only frames the collection but also becomes a visual experience in its own right thanks to an enormous inflatable art installation created by Byungchan Lee. For the next winter season, the Seoul-based brand combines functional military elements with romantic and timeless silhouettes. Utility coats are the leading players, gathered in nylon in anthracite and burnt orange, but also male knitted bustiers, parachute jackets in floral and checked fabrics, as well as leather jackets with racing details. The collection is full of references to the world of parachuting, notably in pieces like the spectacular women’s dresses. And then again there are cut-out hooded sweatshirts that give a sporty touch and jackets with cross lacing at the back that add a sense of drama, softening the utility side of the collection. Plenty of guests attended this beautiful blend of romanticism and aviation, including Greta Futura, Seung Ju, Tamu Mc Pherson, and many others.
