“Amanhã há de ser outro dia”: Sandra Hegedüs et Iván Argote take a stand for Brazil
Until September 30th, Iván Argote is hosting a collective exhibition of Brazilian artists living in France in the exhibition space of his Pantin studio. “Amanhã há de ser outro dia” (“Tomorrow will be another day”) is true manifesto curated by Sofia Lanusse. The exhibition brings together about twenty artists mobilized to raise against the ultraconservative policy of President Jair Bolsonaro, which puts culture, human rights and environmental protection to danger. Sandra Hegedüs is at the origin of this project. The founder of SAM Art Projects – which aims at promoting artistic exchanges between North and South, East and West – brought together the group of artists with the aim of taking action for their country. The exhibition resonates as a tribute to the protests that already took place fifty years ago: the title refers to the song chanted by the demonstrators against the military dictatorship in Brazil in the 1970s. The exhibition, which brings together a broad panorama of artistic practices, is enriched by a program of conversations and debates in a collective space located in the Guinguette des Grandes Serres de Pantin.
