For 56 years, the city that once inspired Vincent van Gogh’s masterpieces has become an epicentre of photography every summer with the Rencontres d’Arles. The leading event devoted to the medium, the festival offers a comprehensive survey highlighting the best of photography, featuring works by both well-established and emerging artists, crafted through a range of techniques going from the traditional to the most cutting-edge. Held under the theme of “Indocilic Images”, this 56th edition of the festival is marked by the presence of renowned American photographer Nan Goldin as guest of honour, and highlights the heritage of the photographic medium as well as the richness of visual storytelling.
