Opening of the exhibition “Louvre Couture”

23.01.2025

Exhuberant, mystical, majestic and thorough, the exhibition “Du Cœur à la Main” (From the Heart to the Hands) has landed in the French capital and is on the agenda of every Parisian worthy of the name. Following a sensational reception in Milan last summer, Dolce&Gabbana’s exhibition takes up residence at the Grand Palais from January 10th to March 31st. Welcoming us into a unique and dreamlike universe of intricate craftsmanship and extravagant luxury, “Du Cœur à la Main” plunges us into the Baroque-inspired nature of the Italian luxury Maison. This retrospective invites us to explore the creative process of the two couturiers in all its complexity, from the dreamy preliminary sketches to the very final touches, through a captivating itinerary that pays tribute to iconic pieces from the Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria and Alta Gioielleria collections. Each of the 12 rooms that make up the show creates a unique atmosphere, taking visitors to the heart of the workshop, where the dreams of these artisans become, stitch after stitch, an exceptional and exquisite reality. A spark of light that shines through the grey Parisian sky.

Welcome to Club AMIRI, an imaginary jazz lounge bar in Los Angeles, populated by characters coming straight out of a 70s Hollywood movie. Elegance and distinction prevail: the tailored clothes have a luxurious feel, and the colours are warm and vibrant. Full of character, the collection has an undeniable vintage charm thanks to long leather coats, impeccable suits and ever-present corduroy. And because a good jazz bar is always more enjoyable in good company, Amiri seized the opportunity to present its women’s collection. Like the men’s, this feminine wardrobe reflects a carefully crafted casualness as well as refined, timeless elegance. At the show, we met The Boyz’ Sun Woo, Becky G, French Montana, and Bible Wichapas Sumettikul, among others.

This was a deliberate choice. To create a contrast with the enveloping softness of his latest collection, Pierre-Louis Mascia picked an extremely bare and cold backdrop. Inside a famous industrial building in the Navigli area, the designer unveiled an eclectic mix of poetic references — spanning from Keats’s Romanticism to the Victorian era, with nods to the Italian Renaissance. Mascia thinks of his collection as a visual poem, in which he explores the search for sensuality in a cold world. As a result, the brand shows an eclectic mash-up of styles, which goes beyond ages, mixing weights, silhouettes, prints, tailoring, casual and streetwear, worn by dreamy models with vintage vinyl records under their arms. Naturally, there is no shortage of new prints and amalgamations of patterns, developed with Achille Pinto, a textile printing laboratory based in Como since 1933. This season the brand presents twenty new ones. The motifs are mixed, painted, redrawn, composed and recomposed, transformed in a subtle blend of both analogue and digital techniques, to decorate the luxurious fabrics that represent the search for the ephemeral according to Pierre-Louis Mascia. Among those attending the show, we spotted Ghemon, Riccardo Petri, Nikita Vlassenko, Louise Parent, Sespo, Adriana and Luciana Toledo.

Unless you live under a rock, you probably recognise her. After all, 22-year-old American model Amelia Gray has been the face of every successful campaign for the past year, which makes her one of the most sought-after personalities this Fashion Week. Last night, the it-girl hosted a lovely dinner at Café Marly, which arguably boasts the best view of the Pyramid of the Louvre, to present the new bag she has designed for The Kooples. Irresistibly chic while being practical, the purse won over the influencers and journalists invited to discover it.

For over 100 years, this innovative design has been able to endure the test of time. Three shades of gold – white, pink and yellow – linked in three concentric rings. As time passed, the size, number of rings and materials evolved. Like all great icons, its versatility has allowed this jewellery to seamlessly adapt to the spirit of our contemporary days. The latest proof of this is the square-shaped 2024 version, which has pushed the idea into a whole new dimension. During a spectacular evening at the Petit Palais, the Maison welcomed friends, ambassadors, journalists and internationally renowned influencers to celebrate the centenary of this iconic symbol of French elegance and talent. During the evening, we crossed paths with Virginie Elfira, Sofia Coppola, Jisoo, Rami Malek, Mélanie Laurent, Vincent Lacoste, Jackson Wang, Ana Girardot, Joséphine Japy, Isabelle Huppert, Paul Mescal, Aimé Simone, Emma Corin, and Deva Cassel…

Each of their shows overshadows the preceding one. In the space of only ten years, the duo formed by Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant has established itself as one of the most creative ones in the field. A blend of state-of-the-art technology and know-how, their designs reflect the best of both yesterday and tomorrow. To celebrate their latest collaboration with Puma, Coperni invited all the cool Parisians to FVTVR (read it as future), an underground club that’s been shaking up the Parisian nightlife scene. We ran into Isha Van Dijk, Snake Ninja, Ruben Larkin, Clara Beneytout, Mj Harper, Giselle Palmer, Peri Rosenzweig, and Michael Kimmoun…

Casablanca has just unveiled its latest collection, “Venus as a Boy”, which draws inspiration from Ancient Greece. Borrowed from a Björk song, the title evokes a reinterpretation of Venus, herself a Roman reinvention of Aphrodite. This blend of classical beauty and modernity embodies a shared philosophy, that is, an exploration of the links between past and present. By focusing on ancient Greece, the collection transcends the mere reproduction of the past to embody a timeless sense of elegance.

Shall the Matrix saga ever see a new sequel, the costume design team will have half the work done, for Avellano’s latest collection may well be that making Trinity’s wardrobe. This Autumn-Winter 24/25 season, the French designer demonstrates once again his mastery of the unusual material that made him famous, that is, latex.

The Fashion Show was opened by Avellano’s muse, Noah Cyrus, who had the honour of unveiling the collection’s novelties: bomber jackets (the very first ones for Avellano) and the olive-green shades that would contrast a predominantly black colour palette. When something works, it’s better to stick with it. Avellano seems to know the premise, as his signature pieces, such as the long coats and mermaid dresses, made the core of the collection, revisited in a more street-style vein. These sensual and fluid pieces are chaperoned by the imposing volumes of some new creations, such as puffer jackets.
