The European Fine Art Foundation (TEFAF) lands in Maastricht next month. While mostly known from the Treaty, the city deserves more than a mere administrative glance. Just on the outskirts lies Château Neercanne, whose splendour is well worth a visit for a taste of Versailles à la Dutch. Nestling at the southern tip of the Netherlands, the castle straddles Belgian and Dutch territory. The region, which extends all the way to the gates of Maastricht, has no fewer than eight airports within an hour’s drive! Its exquisite decor and Michelin-starred restaurant, make the château and its trail of elegance a destination in itself.
