Slam Jam Milan x Nike: Air Force 1, On Another Plane

This week we won’t be taking you to a ravishing hotel that merging with the ocean but to an urban exhibition that exudes cool culture. Organized in collaboration with the production studio Avoir and located in the Maiocchi space in Milan, this exhibition celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Air Force 1. The inspiration behind this special mise-en-scène: Luca Benini, founder of Slam Jam. Starting in 1898 with a small warehouse on the outskirts of Ferrara long before streetwear was even a thing in Europe, Benini opened Slam Jam and was many the only European wholesaler for these pieces, directly imported from the US. A walk-in closet like that naturally felt fitting for the Air Force 1. Featured in music videos and films of the time and having escaped from the wooden floors to roam the pavements, this legendary shoe has recently made a worldwide comeback, inspiring artists and “customizers” of all kinds.
