Metisse Desert Racer x Steve McQueen: The Great Escape

Brothers Derek and Don Rickman, motocross racers, decided to turn all they learned on the field into building motorbikes. They founded Metisse in 1959, and by the early 60s, Derek and Don Rickman had made their name famous across Europe. Metisse received quite a boost when Steve McQueen bought a Mk 3 and publicly stated: “the best handling bike I’ve ever owned”. The man whose stunts were the triumph of “The Great Escape” was an authority on riding at the time. Today, Metisse and Chad McQueen, Steve’s son, are offering an exact replica of Steve’s personal Mk 3, upgraded with their own personal touch. A revamped 650cc Triumph TR6 twin-cylinder and a four-speed gearbox power this 130kg featherweight! The bodywork was finished in military grey and features McQueen’s signature on the fuel tank.
