Kirkham x Cobra: Past and furious

When, in the mid-1960s, Carroll Shelby decided to add a powerful V8 engine to the AC Ace, he didn’t know he was about to give birth to one of the most legendary sports cars of all time: the Cobra. Faced with its popularity, numerous manufacturers tried to write their part in its history by creating replicas that were all as true to the original as can be. Some of these cars even offered better performances, and received Shelby’s blessing. Among them, David Kirkham’s productions are a standout. A genius craftsman, he made a name for himself by preparing the exterior of aircrafts before going into the automobile business. His Cobras quickly stood out for their performances, and Kirkham was soon asked to work on more extravagant projects, just like this model with a bodywork made in bronze! Polished by hand, this sculpture on wheels can go up to 650 hp! Sold by RM Sotheby’s, the Cobra is at the crossroads between the work of art and the perfect automobile.
