What was originally known as the first Parisian hot-air balloon airfield has come a long way before turning into the refined hotel it is today. This stunning 1892 Haussmann building has been many things, from the headquarters of the Institut de France until 1986 to a circle of influence for Parisian socialites. Leading the renovation project was the highly sought after and talented architect Laura Gonzalès. The Saint-James is a magnificent building of classical design, surrounded by a splendid unsuspected garden, whose interior has been masterfully redesigned with a rather contemporary touch. An address to discover, or rediscover, especially in the early hours of autumn.
