Unveiling the Finalists of the Design Parade Hyères Toulon

Created in 2006, with Andrée Putman as a godmother, the Design Parade Hyères festival aims to spread contemporary creation with both the public and professionals working in design. One of the remarkable features of this competition is that it showcases the work of ten young designers every year, offering them unique visibility and support. The festival is also a moment of sharing, encounters and discoveries. As for the Design Parade Toulon, launched in 2016 with Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec as godfathers, the competition follows the steps of its elderly brother. Devoted to interior design, it is the first competition and festival of its kind in France. In 2019, the Centre Pompidou signed a pluriannual agreement with the Toulon Provence Méditerranée metropolitan area to present the national design collections in Toulon and will be joined in 2023 by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the Centre National des Arts Plastiques and the Mobilier National. Henceforth, each summer, the Villa Noailles organises the Design Parade in two events: the first in Toulon for interior design, and the second in Hyères for design.

The festival is also an opportunity to explore the heritage of these two neighbouring towns, each embodying the architectural and decorative legacy of the Metropole and the Var.  Thanks to this new format, Design Parade offers an opportunity to delve into the richness of contemporary art and design throughout a long weekend. Several prizes will be awarded to candidates competing in the two competitions thanks to donations from the festival’s partners, who have joined forces with the festival to support them over the long term: Sèvres – Manufacture et Musée nationaux, the Centre international de recherche sur le verre et les arts plastiques (Cirva) and Tectona for Hyères, Van Cleef & Arpels, le19M, CHANEL, le Mobilier national and the Fondation Carmignac for Toulon. The finalists will also benefit from a mentorship programme as well as economic sponsorship for two years, including funding, production, crafts, materials, publishing, legal, exhibition, workshop and residency. This year’s Design Parade will take place from 27 to 30 June.
