The Duo SetP Stanikas Inaugurate the Season of Lithuania in France

The former residence of the French composer Ernest Chausson, currently home to the Lithuanian Embassy, is hosting an exceptional exhibition by the leading duo in contemporary Lithuanian art – Svajoné and Paulius Stanikas (SetP Stanikas), working and living in Paris for the past twenty-five years. “Les Origines”, curated by Julia Palmeirao is the inaugural show of the Season of Lithuania in France, launched at the exhibition opening on September 10th.

Svajoné and Paulius Stanikas have blended details of collective memory with personal stories, the figure of Oscar Milosz, traditional imagination with Lithuanian fairy tales, and other diverse inspirations. Between contrasts, polarities and news, the artists draw indirectly on their own lives and personal histories, using various medium such as photography, drawing, installations and video. “Les Origines” thus establishes itself as a dialogue between cultural and historical heritage, and Lithuanian diplomatic memory in France.

At the opening, we had the pleasure of meeting the artists and curator, alongside Lithuanian ambassador Arnoldas Pranckevicius, Geoffroy Boulard, Laurent Le Bon, Olivier Waltman and many others.
