Perrotin Unveils its Spring Exhibition Programme with Bernar Venet and Susumu Kamijo
On Saturday 18, Perrotin presented the exhibition “Diffeomorphism and Discontinuity“, the gallery’s first collaboration with French artist Bernar Venet, a leading figure in contemporary sculpture and a pioneer of conceptual art. His work is presented in Perrotin’s exhibition spaces both in the Marais and on Avenue Matignon, and is rounded off by a monumental installation on Place Vendôme, “The Parabola of History”, curated by Jérôme Sans. Featuring paintings, drawings, sculpture, metal and wooden reliers, this exhibition offers a transversal overview of Venet’s oeuvre.
Simultaneously, the gallery proposed to discover the work of Susumu Kamijo, a Japanese visual artist based in New York, through the exhibition “The Sun Inside”. Featuring a set of recent paintings that play on minimalist environments and abstract compositions, the exhibition explores the psychology of the canine in order to bring about a critical and reflective look at our societies.
Last Saturday, the art world gathered at rue de Turenne to attend the opening of the exhibitions of Venet and Kamijo. Both artists were present alongside other artists represented by Perrotin such as Jean-Michel Othoniel, Johan Creten, Laurent Grasso and Lionel Estève; as well as Emmanuel Perrotin, Jérome Sans, Dylan Lessel and Tom-David Bastok. Featuring a Perrier-Jouët champagne cocktail, the opening was followed by a dinner at the Potel and Chabot salons on Place Vendôme, where we met several collectors, curators and institutional representatives.
