Meritalia Turns the Triennale into a Bright Eden with Gaetano Pesce’s Works

“Everything is Gonna Be All Right” – It is under this promising and bright title that Meritalia introduces its new exhibition at the Triennale Milano. The Italian furniture brand has invited Gaetano Pesce to show nine works at its Milanese space, thus transforming it into a small garden of Eden. Positive thinking and faith in the future are the leitmotifs driving this project and, of course, its inauguration. The whimsical works of the designer, conceived specifically for this exhibition, were exalted by the gospel choir that opened up the launch event, once again echoing the optimistic energy at the core of the show. From Gaetano Pesce to Charley Vezza, CEO of Italian Radical Design, many figures of the creative industries like Sandra Vezza, Stefano Boeri, Catherine Lacaze, Lynn Lin, Angela Missoni, Sarah Douglas, Maria Cristina Didero and Ross Lovegrove gathered together for the inauguration. The Milanese exhibition was also a celebration of the longstanding collaboration between Meritalia and Pesce, which has brought a new perception of furniture, revolutionising the field. This time they immerse us into a universe populated by fantastic characters, mountain landscapes that serve as seats, funny animals reminiscent of Lewis Carroll’s illustrations, soft modular sofas resembling freshly baked bread, flowery meadows and foam clouds. All created between 2005 and 2012, these pieces are made to play with the public’s imagination while keeping in mind the purpose for which they were designed. That’s why standing here feels like dreaming.
