Memphis Milano and Studio Azzurro: a tour in the subversive universe of Milanese creativity

There are short circuits that leave their mark.  One of these is undoubtedly the one involving Memphis Milano and Studio Azzurro, two realities born in the radical heart of Milan in the 1980s.  Forty years later the two creative laboratories collaborate again for the exhibition “ENLIGHTENED”, staged by Fabio Cherstich.  On the occasion of the opening, the public was guided on a journey of “visual deceptions” through the rooms of the Milanese gallery in Largo Treves, where the lights designed by Memphis alternate with video sequences. The result is a contemporary yet surreal journey.  On one side the objects, static yet vital, on the other the screens with moving images: both dialogue and almost seem to flirt. Eight installations on display: seven dedicated to the iconic lamps of the Memphis collection and one called “Luci di Inganni”, which pays homage to the original visual project, where the Murmansk silver centerpiece designed by Ettore Sottsass is reflected in the lights of an old monitor. Various exponents of art, design and entrepreneurship made in Italy (but not only) took part in this tour in the subversive universe of Milanese creativity. To do the honors Charley Vezza, CEO of Italian Radical Design.  Alongside him, among others, Maurizio Cattelan, Ross Lovegrove, Fabio Novembre, Richard Hutten, Karim Rashid, Izumi Ogino, Umberta Beretta, Paride Ferrante, Margherita Zunino, Giorgia Tordini, Gilda Ambrosio, Clémence Krzentowski and Yves Behar.
