Malo makes a big comeback at AltaRoma
AltaRoma is the third major event in Italian fashion, completing Fashion Week in Milan and Pitti Immagine in Florence. For Fall/Winter 2019, the full schedule of 42 shows happened in a brand new venue: PratiBus District, a 5000m2 disused space in the Prati district close to the historic center. For Malo, the historic Florentine brand of knits and cashmere, it’s a return to the spotlight. The house has just been taken over by a trio: Walter Maiocchi and Luigino Belloni (both Italian industrialists) and Mario Stangoni. With this collection, Malo is beginning an important new phase in its history. The company’s DNA has remained intact— “Made in Italy,” knitwear know-how, handmade and rare materials—which Nancy Marchini, the brand’s communications director, stated about the collection backstage. Sitting in the front row were Simonetta Gianfelici (official member of AltaRoma in charge of young designers), Anastasiya Ammocoba, and designer Manos Samartsis.
