Christie’s Welcomes the Studio YMER&MALTA

From January 15th to 22nd, Christie’s showroom at 9 Avenue de Matignon, Paris, hosts the exhibition “YMER&MALTA: le patrimoine du futur”. The exhibition is organised by YMER&MALTA, a pioneering furniture design house founded by Valérie Maltaverne in 2009, and brings together a selection of pieces from their collections. The studio is driven by the notion of ‘slow made’, an approach based on valuing the time required to create a fine piece of craftsmanship. Every piece at YMER&MALTA is custom-made and the product of a meticulous procedure involving minute attention to detail, from research to the selection of materials, not forgetting ecological issues and, of course, the mastery of craftsmanship. Valérie Maltaverne herself participates as artistic director in each creation, alongside a designer and craftsmen. They embrace traditional French craftsmanship while incorporating the latest innovations to create contemporary pieces with a singular spirit and timeless character. At the opening evening, we met Valérie Maltaverne and Cécile Verdier, Chairman of Christie’s France, surrounded by leading figures from the world of art and design.
