French Design is Beating in the Heart of Milan

A journey to discover inspiration and imagination, made in France. This is what Le French Design and Mobilier National propose with “An Innovative Tour of the French Panache”, an initiative that offers a broad overview of transalpine design during the hectic Design Week. Multiple venues, special events, publishers and outlets are scattered through the Lombard capital, all carefully detailed and indicated in Le French Design Milano Map, the ultimate orientation tool for the fair, which is a condensed, Milan-specific version of the Global Le French Design map.

Artists, journalists, designers and collectors from all over the world have gathered to discover this unique tour, which started with the Roche Bobois boutique, home of Joana Vasnconcelos’ BomBom outdoor collection. Visitors then moved on to discover the deep blacks, marbles and coppers of the Chiaroscuro line by Ligne Roset. The wood-inspired installation À l’orée des bois (At the Edge of the Woods in English) made the Delcourt Collection an essential stop, as did the new line of limited editions at Collection Particulier.

The visit continued with the collaboration between Pierre Frey, Guillaume Delvigne and “Il Volo Fantastico” project, who have signed an exciting collection of fabrics and graphics for Lelievre. As for Dior, the Maison presented the Monsieur Dior armchair and a series of furniture designed by Philippe Starck. La Manufacture took over the historic spaces of Casa Manzoni with its contemporary designs. Closing the show visitors discovered Surprise Party!, a poetic and optimistic installation by Constance Guisset on display at the French Institute, in the Palazzo delle Stelline. In short, a French heart beats at the core of Milan.
