Glamour for a good cause: what could be better! The amfAR gala drew many celebrities, supermodels and philanthropists to support the fight against AIDS. On the red carpet, Natasha Poly, Izabel Goulart, Andie MacDowell and Antonio Banderas all sported their best evening clothes. This year, guests were welcomed by tenor Andreas Schager and his performance of “Nessun Dorma.” Mariah Carey (who took the stage for Chopard a few days earlier) then shared her “Emotions” with a rapt audience. The exceptional line-up continued with Tom Jones, The Struts, Dua Lipa and Charli XCX. Milla Jovovich, a long-time amfAR ambassador, took the microphone to emphasize the importance of HIV research and introduce the auction (which, by the end of the evening, had raised nearly $15 million dollars). Takashi Murakami’s “Yume Lion” went for the modest sum of two million dollars while the fashion show dreamed up by Carine Roitfeld (featuring top models of the moment like Kendall Jenner, Cindy Bruna and Winnie Harlow) auctioned superb pieces from Dior, Chanel, Givenchy, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent and Prada, as well as fine jewelry from Chopard.
