ELLE Magazine Reveals the Winners of the Grand Prix des Lectrices and the Grand Prix de la BD

Théâtre de la Concorde, Paris

In 1970, ELLE magazine pioneered a new approach to literary prizes by giving women readers the opportunity to express their preferences and vote for their favourite books. Every year for the past 56 years, instead of a traditional jury, groups of women readers have come together to select three books a month, all shortlisted by the editorial team in three categories: Novel, Non-Fiction and Crime Fiction. At the end of this process, in May, the 120 members of this grand jury choose a winner for each category. On Tuesday, June 17th, the three laureates of this 56th edition were finally announced. Jérôme Chantreau won the Novel category with ‘L’Affaire de la rue Transnonain’ (La Tribu), while Adèle Yon was awarded the Non-Fiction category for her book ‘Mon vrai nom est Elisabeth’ (Éditions du Sous-Sol). Finally, Liz Moore won the Crime Fiction category with ‘Le Dieu des bois’ (Buchet-Chastel).

In 2021, the magazine’s editorial team decided to apply this concept to another genre in the spotlight: comics. This year, Luz’s “Deux filles nues” (Albin Michel) was awarded the Grand Prix.

At the awards ceremony, we met Anne and Claire Berest, Jean-Baptiste Andréa, Eric Reinhardt, Olivia de Lamberterie, Clémentine Goldszal and many others.
