“Cortical Palace : Une Nuit, Une Éternité”: Loris Gréaud’s Project Materializes at Théâtre du Châtelet
Thanks to the MAH, the Geneva Museum of Art and History, and a partnership with Art Basel, the Théâtre du Châtelet welcomed Loris Gréaud to imagine a unique two-part project. On October 18th, the artist unveiled the first piece of the “Cortical Palace: Une Nuit, Une Éternité”, a concert by The Residents, thanks to the support of Olivier Py and Jérôme Chaumond. The second instalment, “Une Éternité”, is curated by Marc-Olivier Wahler and will be presented at the MAH from November 18th.
The Residents is an avant-garde, post-punk and experimental music collective whose members’ identities are concealed since they make all their random appearances masked. For the first part of the project, ‘Une Nuit’, they took over the Théâtre du Châtelet to perform a piece in a magnetic and unreal atmosphere, attended free of charge by 1,200 people. The project echoes the exhibition ‘Les Nuits Corticales’, by the same artist, which took place at the Petit Palais several months ago, and which resonated in the world of contemporary art. Ranging from dreamlike installations to multi-sensory experiences, Gréaud’s artworks invaded the courtyard, halls and façades of the building, with sound sculptures, live musical performances, experimental smells and orange lights. With this new project, Loris Gréaud keeps developing a fascinating universe of his own, never ceasing to amaze.
During this unique concert, we had the pleasure of meeting Loris Gréaud, Marc-Olivier Wahler, Jérôme Chaumond, Charles Carmignac and many more.
