CHANEL and Jean-Paul Goude kick off their exhibition “In Goude we trust!” in Milan
Last year in Tokyo, CHANEL presented a major exhibition dedicated to Jean-Paul Goude. Entirely conceived by the artist, known as an “image maker”, “In Goude we trust!” had attracted notable names from the Tokyo and international cultural scene including Pharrell Williams, friend and ambassador of the house. Following their success in Tokyo, CHANEL and Jean-Paul Goude inaugurated a new chapter for the show last night in Milan at the Palazzo Giureconsulti. The collaboration between Jean-Paul Goude and CHANEL is one of the most emblematic of the last thirty years. His advertising film for the brand’s perfume EGOÏSTE won him the Golden Lion at the Cannes Advertising Film Festival in 1991. The exhibition celebrates the creative bond and shared heritage of the artist and the fashion house from their first collaboration to ads for COCO and CHANCE. It’s also a complete immersion into Jean-Paul Goude’s more personal works, some of which are unpublished – such as Notre Dame de Saint Mandé and the little people. Guests of CHANEL at the show’s opening night (model Gabrielle Caunesil, collector Gemma Testa, stylist Chiara Totire) were treated to a Fire installation performance, performed by dancers within the exhibition itself. From his emblematic drawings to his legendary portraits of Grace Jones, not to mention his images for Esquire, CHANEL offers with “In Goude we trust!” an exclusive immersion into Jean-Paul Goude’s imagination… now through December 31st. #INGOUDEWETRUST
