The Opéra-Comique Celebrates “L’Amour Fou” with a Gala Evening
Under the presidency of Christine d’Ornano, the Opéra-Comique was pleased to host a gala evening on the theme of “L’Amour Fou” (Crazy Love). Thaddaeus Ropac, a loyal supporter of the theatre, joined the gala’s organising committee and invited artist-in-residence Sylvie Fleury to create an original artwork for the occasion. Installed in front of the Opéra-Comique, on the Place Boieldieu, this mushroom sculpture stands as an invitation to experience magic in unexpected places, like a creative symbiosis between art and music.
This exceptional gala evening aimed to support the Opéra-Comique’s artistic and social projects, namely three of them: the Maîtrise Populaire and the Académie de l’Opéra-Comique, as well as the ‘Relax’ performances. These special sessions are intended to provide easier access to the theatre for people whose disabilities may lead to spontaneous behaviour during performances. Guests were treated to a splendid recital of some of opera’s most beautiful love songs, a performance by the Maîtrise de l’Opéra-Comique as well as an auction, before enjoying a dinner prepared by chef Jean-François PIège. In the sumptuous setting of the theatre’s Foyer, we met Christine d’Ornano, Hubert Barrère, Vincent Darré, Mathilde Favier, Alexia Niedzielski, Thaddaeus Ropac, Vanessa van Zuylen and many others.
