BIG TIME Flies into Paris

The slow food movement met the slow press movement with the official launch of BIG TIME magazine on Tuesday night in Paris complete with a cocktail by legendary French chef and the subject of BIG TIME’s first cover story Pierre Gagnaire and a night of drinks, dancing and a DJ set by BIG TIME board member Fréderic Beigbeder (an event produced by La Riposte agency). With a tag line “rien ne presse” (or “there’s no hurry”) the review founded by journalist and entrepreneur Clément Boulle is an ode to the “slow” printed press in our age of Instagram and twitter blasts. “The press is reinventing itself.” -Clément Boulle. Paris’ cultural and culinary elite including Eric Naulleau, Dominique Besnehard and Sébastien Gaudard came together at the  Fondation Dosne-Thiers for a champagne-infused evening bubbling over with enthusiasm for this ambitious new form of literary consumption. The first issue features a colorful sketch of Gagnaire with his quote “Meat should become a rarity again” and guests enjoyed his meat-free culinary creations while sipping on champagne and signature cocktails as they perused giant posters of articles drawn from the magazine also featuring musings on life, politics, culture and even laughter from French humorist Nora Hamzawi, Danièle Thompson and more of some of the greatest French minds today. The first issue of Big Time officially hits French newsstands on October 17th and will continue with 5 issues per year designed to be read, according to the magazine’s creators “only when you have time to read: November holiday weekends, Christmas, winter break, May holiday weekends and summer vacation.”
