Anna-Eva Bergman’s Extensive Oeuvre Exhibited in Paris

Anna-Eva Bergman’s life is worthy of the greatest of novels. It began in Stockholm in 1909 and ended at the heights of Antibes in 1987. A long journey, and a long life marked by important stages: the Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo (1927), the University of Applied Arts in Vienna the following year, and finally, the discovery of André Lhote’s studio in Paris in 1929. It was there that she met her husband, Hans Hartung. Together, they travelled, fell in love, were torn apart and finally found their way back to each other. From this tumultuous life was born a singular form of art, little known to the public. The Museum of Modern Art, therefore, decided to dedicate a grand retrospective on Bergman’s work where we met Her Majesty The Queen of Norway Sonja Haraldsen, Brigitte Macron, His Excellency The Ambassador of Norway Niels Engelschiøn, Carine Rolland, Arnaud Ngatcha, Deputy in charge of International Relations and Francophonie, Anne-Sophie de Gasquet, Director General Paris Musées, and Fabrice Hergott, Museum Director and Hélène Leroy, curator of the exhibition.
