World Monuments Fund Celebrates its 60th Anniversary with a Prestigious Gala in Versailles

Domaine du Trianon, Versailles

The most renowned international NGO dedicated to the preservation of exceptional heritage sites, World Monuments Fund celebrated its 60th anniversary this year at the Château de Versailles, in the Domaine du Trianon. Based on the highly appropriate theme of ‘The Reign of Plants – From the Kitchen Garden to the Palace’, this magnificent gala dinner not only paid tribute to six decades of commitment to the preservation of international heritage, but also helped to raise the funds needed to finance this noble global endeavour.

The evening included a welcome cocktail, a private tour of the Petit Trianon and a private performance at the Théâtre de la Reine, one of the many venues that benefited from a complete restoration by the association in 2001. Guests enjoyed magnificent decorations by Zoë de Givenchy and a gala committee formed by Dena Kaye, Renaud de Lesquen and Ellie Peugeot. The final surprise of this extraordinary evening was a fireworks show set off from the estate’s gardens, a modern reminder of the lavish celebrations of the Court of the Sun King.

The dinner was part of a series of sixty events organised around the world, and brought together British artist Daphne Guinness, Christian Louboutin, Daniel Templon, Carlotta de Guittaut, Zoë de Givenchy, and many others!
