The Lido is coming alive as the curtain rises on the 82nd Venice International Film Festival. This year marks a change as Emanuela Fanelli becomes the festival’s first official mistress of ceremonies, bringing her signature wit to the role. Director Alexander Payne chairs the jury, while his Italian counterpart Paolo Sorrentino opens this 82nd edition with his film La Grazia, a mysterious yet anticipated Neapolitan tale. Many international celebrities are expected to attend the numerous previews, red carpets and cocktail parties, among them George Clooney, Jude Law, Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts, Tom Waits and Werner Herzog, who will be awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.
