Meliá Hotels International announces the official opening of ME Malta by Zaha Hadid. This is the first time the iconic ME by Meliá brand has opened on the Mediterranean island. Located on the north-east coast in St. Julian’s, the hotel is the second collaboration with the world-famous architect, following ME Dubai, which opened a couple of years ago as part of the Mercury Towers complex.
Malta is not only one of Europe’s most popular cultural destinations (see the recent success of the Art Biennale last spring), it is also one of the most beloved LGBTQ+ destinations in the world. As such, the new hotel is set to become the cultural and social epicentre for tourists and locals alike, elevating the Maltese urban scene with its restaurants, bars, cutting-edge cultural programmes and its signature Zaha Hadid silhouette.
Located in the lively St. Julian’s, a neighborhood known for its lively nightlife, picturesque bays and luxury boutiques, it offers 113 rooms, 27 suites and 35 residences spread over 20 floors. As mentioned, the hotel has a declared goal: to become a meeting point for the artistic community thanks to the ambitious “Culture Collective” program of ME by Meliá, which allows guests to discover a very full carnet of events that includes exhibitions by local artists and performances by international music stars.
One of the many jewels in the crown of the hotel is the Radio Rooftop bar, a typical concept of ME by Meliá hotels. It will open in early 2025, and will offer the opportunity to taste exquisite Asian dishes while sipping signature cocktails to the tunes of the best DJs in Malta.
