Villa Valguarnera X Vittoria di Villafranca : stepping in a Visconti film

In its 500-year long history, its seems the Villa hasn’t changed a bit. From the outside as well as the inside, nothing appears to have altered the residence of Princess Vittoria di Villafranca, who offers to give a taste of her castle life to enthusiasts. Entrusted to a luxury rental agency, the Villa offers a stay in one of its wings, and gives a group of 6 people the opportunity to enjoy a time-travel experience. While the Villa has known restoration works over the years, their motive was always to keep it as close to its original state as possible, as evidenced by the original marble baths in the many bathrooms. For this reason, the villa is often rented for big productions. Sophia Loren cooked pasta for Dolce & Gabbana in a campaign shot by the director of “Cinema Paradiso”, Giuseppe Tornatore. Enhanced by the furniture, wall coverings, floorings and paintings, the villa exudes a unique atmosphere. Its walls have quite a few anecdotes to tell (some of them even of scandalous nature). The Princess likes to share them with her guests at night, while sitting in a 100-year-old wicker chair. Some of the most unexpected and legendary people have stayed in the villa: from Goethe to the Empress of Austria, to Salvador Dali to Manolo Blahnik. Each of them has, in their own way, contributed to the cultural heritage of the place – as well as its library, which has remained in the family ever since.
