When it comes to Luxembourg, Parisians are mostly familiar with the eponymous garden. But just a few hours away by car is a small pocket-sized country that rarely makes it on anyone’s travel radar. Yet, a little gem is well worth a visit. Built on former fortifications of the Grand Duchy, the mansion consists of two separate structures: the former owners’ home and the stables. Designed by Tristan Auer, the rooms feature high ceilings and the luxurious bedrooms are filled with historical references. The main staircase leading to the upper floors is period, as are the mosaic floors visible in the service areas. The Villa Pétrusse hotel is also home to two restaurants. The Ciel restaurant, a glass-roofed brasserie, is run by chef Kim De Dood, a native of the country who trained in Asia. The decor has been restored to reflect the original style as closely as possible, featuring dark wood paneling and red walls, evoking royalty. Silky, calm, and luxurious: it is the ideal place to unwind during long winter evenings.
