As is often the case with Japanese manufacturers, the name speaks quite literally for the concept. The Japanese term Kayoibako refers to the reusable shipping carton containers used to transport goods from one factory to another. This concept vehicle, whose shape couldn’t be more cubic, is inspired by the container’s adaptable shape. By offering a range of customizable hardware, Toyota’s model is highly versatile and provides transportation for last-mile delivery, mobile shopping, human transport (including those with reduced mobility) or even camping cars. Furthermore, besides its spacious rear truck, the Kayoibako can be easily accessed through a double door on the pavement side, a conventional door and a sliding door, as it lacks a central pillar. While the rear windows may evoke those of funerary cars, the glass roof grants it a nicer touch. What we really like about this car is that it is functional yet aesthetic, a perfect mix of business and pleasure.
