The Shinmonzen x Tadao Ando : Do you know Omotenashi?

Omotenashi is the Japanese art of entertaining. It took Tadao Ando ten years of work to translate this state of mind into a hotel, now located on the outskirts of Kyoto. With the help of French interior designer Remi Tessier, the architect chose bamboo, silk and cypress to complement furniture inspired by the work of Charlotte Perriand. Twinned with the Château La Coste and its renowned art installations, this ryokan holds in its garden artworks by Louise Bourgeois or Damien Hirst, with a river running across the garden providing a peaceful atmostphere. It also offers the opportunity to make the experience of local customs and culture, while a French chef is in charge of merging the best of both cultures in the plates.
