New York is famously the city that never sleeps, but we thought we would check for ourselves. This new hotel in the NoMad neighbourhood occupies a former 19th-century mansion, transformed by designer Martin Brudnizki into a luxurious, sensory experience, a sort of giant cabinet of curiosities. The bold décor, a Brudnizki signature, blends art, vibrant wallpapers, vintage screens and pagoda-style lamps, paying homage to owner Alex Ohev Shalom’s travels and various eras. The hospitality is equally remarkable, with butler service on every floor and personalised touches throughout. It is the perfect spot for cocktails at the Portrait Bar or to savour the finely crafted cuisine at Café Carmellini.
