The Albion Rooms X The Libertines : Pete’s Warhol factory

What an intriguing project! In the mid-90s, an English punk band led by Pete Doherty shook up the British capital and the underground scene. The Libertines, screaming the disenchantment of a new generation met a resounding success. Among the first fans, the artistic director Hedi Slimane who would later dedicate a coffee table book to the band. Another famous face, top model Kate Moss would later share Doherty’s tumultuous life. Say Who was able to witness his tormented genius at the occasion of his many concerts in Paris. Sadly this dynamic builds as much as it destroys. As time goes by, from separation to overhaul, the group agreed on the need for a home. A place to live, to create, that would allow them to meet, but also to meet those who, beyond their music, love their lifestyle. Already a sponsor of the football club in the small seaside resort of Margate, two hours east of London, the group set out to find a small building that could be used as a hotel. Now the hotel has finally opened its doors. Black, gold, snakeskin and leopard print, the decoration is a natural extension of the band’s iconic style. With its well-stocked bar (trust them for that), its recording studio, and local cuisine by a young tattooed chef, the place sounds like a new “Warholian Factory”.
