Tenuta borgia Pantelleria X A bigger splash : Temptation island

Tackling the masterpiece uniting Alain Delon and Romy Schneider on the big screen is a perilous undertaking. In Jacques Deray’s “La piscine”, both actors were at the height of their powers of attraction, and the house in Ramatuelle that welcomed their passion is the definition of temptation. The American remake “A Bigger Splash” (Luca Guadagnino) was set to be a tragedy, but it was nothing of the sort. Carried by the incredible Dakota Johnson and a Ralph Fiennes, the film is as intense as the original, more cruel even. It is also set in a more beautiful setting: Pantelleria. This mysterious island located between Sicily and Turkey, whipped by the wind, remains one of the most beautiful rough diamonds of a Mediterranean Sea. Tenuta Borgia, an old farm devoted to the culture of olive trees and ancestral vines, is surrounded by an army of fruit trees, and sits on the south-western side of this volcanic rock, a hundred meters from the sea.

Its Islamic garden designed to protect the most fragile species from the wind, remains one of the most admired in Italy. The interior decoration also contributes to the unique charm of the place. The swimming pool and its mosaic patterns (a star feature of the film) remain the ideal playground for those who are saddened by the absence of a beach. Still it doesn’t take long for the guests to go and explore the magnificent cloves and their crystal-clear waters. Located on a 12-hectare estate with several buildings of different sizes, everyone should be able to find their own paradise on this island of temptation.
