Takashi Murakami x Hublot, a Watch That Blooms Like a Flower

“It is undoubtedly one of the most original timepieces ever produced by Hublot. This exceptional watch was born from the effervescent creative mind of the artist Takashi Murakami. We are talking about the Hublot MP-15 Takashi Murakami Tourbillon Sapphire, whose profile closely resembles that of a flower, a true trademark of the Japanese artist (in his fifth collaboration with the Swiss high-end watchmaking brand). The precious timepiece, presented in a very limited edition (only 50 pieces), features a transparent case made of sapphire crystal decorated with a pattern of 12 petals, while the hands are black-plated with white SuperLuminova. “It has been a truly exciting challenge,” explained Murakami. “We have given life to a completely new chapter of our collaboration, this time focusing on absolute transparency.” The entire project revolves around transparency: thanks to it, some gears and all components are perfectly visible, leaving nothing to mystery. “Until now, my work has focused on color,” the artist continued. “But on this occasion, shapes and volumes have been perceived in a completely different way. Thanks to Hublot, we have preserved the identity of my classic floral motif, adding a different individuality, perfectly in tune with the mechanical universe of Hublot”. By Germano D’Acquisto
