When two experienced collaborators join forces for the tenth time, you’d expect more than just two logos on one sleeve. And that’s precisely what’s happening here with a showcase of the work of Raymond Pettibon. Greg Ginn’s brother and creator of the American hardcore punk band Black Flag, Raymond Pettibon started out by suggesting the band’s name and then designing its logo. He went on to create the band’s album covers, before designing covers for various other bands. He steadily gained recognition, from designing record sleeves to exposing his work in contemporary art galleries. Raymond Pettibon’s main medium is black ink and brush drawings, sometimes enhanced with color. His drawings are usually accompanied by wry, politically-charged statements whose connection with the image, it must be said, is not always obvious. We’ll let you be the judge.
