First introduced last June during Milan Design Week as part of the “Future of Fashion” exhibition, the collaboration between Stella McCartney and B&B Italia now arrives at Art Basel Miami. Their collaborative capsule is a new project that nicely blends design, fashion, and sustainability. Stella McCartney’s ecological fabrics envelop Mario Bellini’s iconic “Le Bambole” armchair and sofa. The pieces are staged in a very immersive setting that catches all eyes passing by the B&B Italia store in Miami: the seats and the entire set up are wrapped in recycled fabric of Stella McCartney’s SS22 hand-designed “Fungi Forest” print. A new interpretation of B&B Italia’s design that pays homage to the 50th anniversary of Le Bambole and speaks about their engagement with sustainability. While the original design featured a metal structure embedded in polyurethane, the 2022 collection and the Stella McCartney edition incorporate ecological fabrics and make use of the latest generation materials. Parallel to the official launch in Miami, the Stella McCartney x B&B Italia collection will be shown in Shanghai in the Le Bambole pop-up store at hAo mArket.
