Sam Baron x EXTO, the Figures Screen as a Work of Art

Screens are cool. The Fondazione Prada in Milan knows it, having recently dedicated an entire exhibition to them, and those in the design world know it as they invaded several spaces during the last design week. One of the most popular is the sculptural Figures room divider, a project designed by Sam Baron for EXTO and presented during the Milan Design Week 2024.

It is a piece of furniture very similar to a sculpture that could easily be exhibited in a gallery of contemporary art. Made of glossy lacquered Canaletto walnut, with inserts in brass, leather, steel, crystal and mirror, through its sinuous shapes it tells of the extraordinary technical ability of the artisans of the Lombard company, which has always been capable of interpreting Made in Italy as a mix of know-how, taste and a deep knowledge of tradition.

“It is a sculptural piece, inspired by the drawings of Picasso and Matisse, with a naive touch. – says Sam Baron – An assembly of elements, of figures, which creates a functional object, thanks to quality and noble wooden panels, with inlays in different materials. Shapes that seem undefined, but which, together, create a visual narrative with a strong impact”. More info on extoworld.it
