Much more than a simple collection, Bamboo Moon is almost a state of consciousness. The collaboration between Roche Bobois and the artist Jiang Qiong Er is in fact like an inner journey. At the center of this journey is the bamboo, a true symbol of East Asia. This iconic plant, revered for its strength and poetic symbolism, has inspired the Chinese designer who has managed to create a collection in which past and present, West and East blend together to become one.
Bamboo Mood offers a range of pieces, including a sofa, a console, cocktail tables, rugs and lighting with additional ceramics and decorative accessories that complete the collection. At the center of the scene is always it: bamboo, which represents strength, resilience and luck and instils a sense of tranquility and refinement. There are, for example, soft sofas and glossy cocktail tables that transform into bamboo stems and emphasize the distinctive nodes of the plant in their designs. Or handmade wool rugs, tufted with different heights, offering an artistic interplay of bamboo canes, adding a layer of texture and depth.
“For me, this collection has been a beautiful journey – says Jiang Qiong Er – It should always be like this. Elegant, resilient, fluid and peaceful, bamboo counters strong winds with insolence and play. It bends but does not break. It whispers, trembles, filters light and plays with shadow. Timeless. It may look fragile, but it provides scaffolding for the tallest skyscrapers in the world. I designed this new bamboo-inspired collection as an invitation to travel; an inexhaustible source of inspiration, poetry and dreams.”
