Porsche x David/Nicolas Studio: Carfection

We’ve seen dozens, maybe even hundreds, of customized Porsches. But we have to admit that this one is on another level. In his garage in Beirut, president and CEO of Porsche Center Lebanon Assaad Raphael has collected around 50 vehicles, mainly Porsches, over the past two decades. His favorite is a 1990 964 Targa, which he bought as a birthday present for his daughter Shaha in 2015. Impressed by the work of David Raffoul and Nicolas Moussallem from the David/Nicolas design firm (based in Beirut and Milan), he decided to commission them to redesign it. On the mechanical side, Raphaël wanted the car to drive like it did in the 1990s: with a heavy clutch, powerful brakes, and the smell of gasoline. Once the engineering work was complete in Beirut, the Porsche 911 was shipped to Treviso, Italy, where David/Nicolas recruited around 30 artisans. They used leather, teak, brass, stainless steel, and other materials. The result is stunning. Combining fashion and interior design, the duo tackled the project as if it were a piece of furniture, while everyone else remained stuck in the automotive world.
