Porsche design x Hodinkee: So Close, Yet So Car

In the early 80s, Porsche was riding the wave of their phenomenal success and cleverly explored new territories. Their sunglasses, an important pilot project with a patented interchangeable lens system, was a hit with the jet set. In the same vein, Porsche ventured into watchmaking, initially with the German manufacturer IWC, based in Schaffhausen. Together, they came up with a version with a compass on the back, which was to prove a great success for Porsche at the Paris Dakar. Then, Porsche gradually began to design its own watch cases, with large chronographs, hands in the iconic red-orange color and sometimes equipped with new functions. To celebrate this little-known history, the online media Hodinkee, which in 15 years has become a reference, is offering a version of the watch which pays tribute to these early chronographs, as part of a collaboration with Porsche.
